Top Products and Market Share

overview logo Key Offerings

  • Water Service: Artesian provides regulated water utility services. Market share is concentrated in Delaware and surrounding states. While precise market share is not readily available, Artesian is a major player in its service area. Competitors include other municipal and private water companies such as American Water Works (AWK) and Aqua America (WTRG, now Essential Utilities (WTRG)).
  • Wastewater Service: Artesian provides regulated wastewater utility services, often in conjunction with its water services. Similar to water service, its market is concentrated regionally. Competitors are comparable to water service providers. Revenue from this service is not separately specified but is a significant portion of the overall utility revenue.

Market Dynamics

industry overview logo Industry Overview

The water and wastewater utility industry is characterized by its essential service nature, high barriers to entry (due to regulatory requirements and capital intensity), and relatively stable demand. Growth is typically driven by population growth and infrastructure investments.

Positioning

Artesian Resources Corporation is positioned as a regional provider of water and wastewater services, focusing on providing reliable and high-quality service in its service area. Its competitive advantages include its established infrastructure, long-standing customer relationships, and regulatory expertise.

Total Addressable Market (TAM)

The total addressable market for water and wastewater utilities in the US is estimated to be in the tens of billions of dollars annually. Artesian's TAM is limited to its operating region, and its position within that TAM is significant, though not dominant, with growth potential through acquisitions and service expansion.
