Competitive Landscape

The emerging markets ETF space is highly competitive, dominated by large index-tracking ETFs from Vanguard and iShares. DEMA's competitive advantage lies in its 'factor-based' or 'smart beta' approach, which seeks to outperform traditional market-cap weighted indices by focusing on specific investment characteristics. However, its market share is smaller due to its unique strategy and distribution model, which historically catered more to financial advisors. The advantage of DEMA is its potential for enhanced returns through its systematic approach, while a disadvantage can be less direct benchmark tracking and potentially higher, though still competitive, expense ratios compared to the largest passive ETFs.

Benchmark Comparison: DEMA's performance is difficult to directly compare to a single traditional benchmark due to its unique investment strategy. While it aims to capture emerging market equity returns, its factor-based approach may lead to deviations from broad market-cap weighted indices like the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. Its performance should be evaluated against its own systematic objectives.
